(We
strive to give everyone requesting a song the chance to be a Rising Star and receive applause.)
Starting The Rotation
The first slip received establishes the start of the rotation. The rotation continues
through the list of singers (which includes first time singers) before it returns to the starting point.
Mixing New Singers Into The Rotation
New singers are alternately added into the rotation with those already in the established
rotation. Basically new-old, new-old, sometimes it becomes necessary to add two new to every old singer. It is best
to arrive early and get a slip in as quickly as possible.
Submitting Slips Under False Names
Anyone cought doing this will be removed from the rotation. Sorry folks, we're all
here to sing and have fun. Puting slips under false names is not fair to the others patiently waiting their turn.
Duets
These are counted as one of the person's songs on their slip. For instance, if Lex
asks Robin to sing a song with her, it counts as Lex's song, not Robin's. Duets are never counted singly. It is
not fair to the others who are waiting to sing. It is also not fair to have someone sign up under their name for a duet
and then you sing it solo. People cought doing this are dealt with the same way as if they were submitting false names.
Leaving And Coming Back
There are alot of people who like to barhop doing Karaoke. Therefore, if you leave, your
name is removed from the rotation. Your name will be mixed back into the rotation upon your return.
Hosts Singing
We sing at the end of the rotation folks. We do not sing more than one song during the
rotation under any circumstance except if we are asked to do a duet with someone. If the rotation is too big then the
host will not sing at all.
Tipping
Tipping your host is allowed, but will not move you up in the rotation.
Extra Features
Our machines have the ability to change the key of any song. We also have the ability
to record your performance to CD to playback for all your friends.
Microphone Etiquette
Our microphones are made to sing right into the top. Singing accross the top or into the
side of the mic takes away from the quality of sound, and also causes the host to have to turn the mic volume up so high that
it can cause feedback. The worst way to hold the mic is to cup it. Cupping the mic is when you wrap your hand around
the head of the mic and basically sing into your hand. This prohibits your host from being able to mix your voice to make
you sound the best you can. We also do not allow anyone to just take the extra mic to start singing with someone unless, the
original singer says that it is alright.
Water Drinkers
The bars hire us to make them money by bringing in curstomers who will sing and buy food
or drinks. We realize that sometimes we all run into a money crunch and can't afford to buy any drinks. Unfortunately,
there are some people who seem perfectly happy to come to shows and only drink water every time. These people defeat our purpose
and take up space in the rotation that a paying customer desserves. I have suggested to all the clubs that they sell bottled
water to any customers who constantly come to shows and only order water. I opologize to anyone who gets offended by this,
but you must realize that the club must make money in order for us to keep bringing everyone the greatest karaoke show
in the SE USA.
# 1 Most Important Rule is to have fun !
